Reading Your Local Wind Forecast

This page provides details about your forecast webpage.

How does it work ?

Welcome to ArchiWind Live! The Live webpage is connected to your local weather forecast provider through the Open-Meteo API. We use 16 wind directions to capture all possible wind configurations affecting your site. The results are scaled up or down using the reference wind speed provided by the weather forecast.

The wind speed and directions provided by the weather forecast are measured 10m above ground. While this accounts for the general behavior of the wind, local conditions at your site may vary. Surrounding buildings play a crucial role in shaping wind comfort and safety on your site, either speeding up or slowing down the wind. Ignoring these interactions can be hazardous. Get an hour-by-hour overview for the next 7 days with ArchiWind Forecast.

How to Read Your Wind Forecast

Weather Data Tab

The Live page is straightforward. The weather data tab allows you to pick the time you are interested in and display it on the 3D viewer. You can select any hour of the day up to 7 days in advance. The 3D viewer will be refreshed accordingly. Your selected hour will automatically move towards “NOW” after each hour. “NOW” means that the 3D viewer will stay in Live mode, showing the current wind at your site using the current wind conditions.

You can use it to monitor your site in real time, set it, and let it display continuously without additional user interactions.

3D Viewer

The 3D viewer updates the wind speed at your site every 15 minutes. You can move around using your mouse or the sidebar buttons. Don’t hesitate to zoom in and out for deeper insights. You can also remove the texture on different patches (terrain, surroundings, buildings) if you are not interested in those results.
